Faculty & Staff
The Career and Talent Development (CTD) department welcomes the opportunity to partner with our Panther Faculty and Staff in providing career guidance and development to our FlU students. CTD provides information and services you can use to better assist your students with their career exploration and preparation needs. We consider you essential partners in helping our students throughout their career journey, and we invite you to engage with our department through a variety of services and programming.
The Career and Talent Development department serves not only our students and alumni, but also our faculty. As a faculty member, you may wish to schedule a class presentation through our office. You can also help us spread awareness of our programs and events geared towards helping your students develop the skills they need for today’s workforce. Please feel free to fill out the Request a Workshop form, and we will do our best to fulfill your request.
We value the relationships that faculty and staff have built with employers in the community and around the globe. For tracking and reporting purposes, we ask that you refer students and employers to the Career and Talent Development Department for internships and job opportunities. By being referred to the Career and Talent Development Department, employers can access the greater number of potential student interns using one convenient FIU source – Handshake.
Students aren’t the only one interested in their success; their accomplishments are also very important to the college. The role you play in the employment process complements the role played by Career and Talent Development. Occasionally, however, helping students in their job searches can result in unanticipated illegal or unethical actions. Read the guides below for more information.
The Career Partners Experience is a two-hour training to equip FIU faculty and staff with the necessary tools to have meaningful conversations with students about their career development and planning. CTD launched the Career Partners training in December 2019, and has held over fifty trainings through in-person and virtual offerings. Career Partner and Handshake trainings are held throughout the spring, summer, and fall semesters.
